Vote for Ron!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT ON FEBRUARY 16!

GENERAL ELECTION – APRIL 6

Who is Ronald Kane Hardy?

  • Head of Information Resources at Polk Library at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, a librarian specializing in collection development and licensing online content for research
  • Chair of the City of Oshkosh Sustainability Advisory Board, facilitating sustainability actions and greenhouse gas mitigation in response to the Mayor’s Climate Protection Act approved by the City in 2007
  • Co-editor of MainStreetOshkosh.com
  • Advocate for strengthening community and developing neighborhood identity in Oshkosh
  • Husband, father of two daughters and a home owner on North Main Street.

What does he stand for?

  • Downtown, Local Business and the Fox River Corridor - I believe that a thriving downtown can benefit all of Oshkosh. We need to revitalize the central city area and Fox River corridor, and re-purpose abandoned lots and vacant buildings. Locally owned businesses need support and commitment from the City so that together we can grow. In a difficult economy it is critical that we buy local and invest locally to strengthen our local economy.
  • Sustainability - I will work toward the implementation of a sustainability plan for Oshkosh that includes  a smart bicycle/pedestrian transportation plan, a tree planting program, community gardens, support for the farmers markets, more parks where they are needed most, and a City commitment to sustainable practices such as energy efficiency and conservation.
  • Water front development – We need to open up the Fox River to the community and visitors alike. I will work toward smart, community-focused development along our waterfront, while also taking steps to improve water quality through better storm water management, shoreline restoration efforts, and water conservation.
  • Efficient and Accessible Government - We should work to increase citizen participation and involvement in city initiatives, and improve communication with residents who will be impacted by city projects earlier in the process. We need a budget that reflects the community’s priorities.  We should pursue greater partnerships between the city, county, quasi-governmental organizations and non-profits to prioritize and implement recommendations from the Vision Oshkosh survey and the City Comprehensive Plan.

Why vote for Ron Hardy?

You should vote for me if you agree with what I stand for, but you should also vote for me because I have a record of bringing groups together to find solutions instead of getting hung up on problems. I can work well with city staff, the common council, and community groups, and together we can find solutions and map a path to move Oshkosh forward.
